Its official sugar is toxic, I'm guessing you've seen the recent press stories (link at the bottom) suggesting a tax should be put on sugary items, I'd say that's kinds daft as a box of raisins or similar would be frowned upon but I absolutely believe we should limit our sugar intake and that of our kids, a simple way to do this is use healthy sugar substitutes, definitely not artificial sweeteners, they are far more toxic than sugar !!! Avoid at all costs ! (if you don't beleive me watch the documentary Sweet Misery) However the good news is that there are some fabulous natural alternatives, everyone has heard of Agave syrup, Sweet freedom is also brilliant and is good for diabetics also. We know about honey (but try and use raw honey as beleive it or not a lot of honey is not 'pure') but my newest best freind is Coconut Nectar from Tiana. It looks and tastes exactly like brown sugar so the kids need never know ! its perfect for baking et al (combine with the wondrous Coconut flour also)
Yes its more expensive but that will encourage you to use less !
